We flew from Gatwick to Bastia, where we stayed at the Hotel Napoleon on the main street just above the big square. It was a very friendly, basic place. After unpacking we headed down to the port. We had beers on the front and did lots of people watching as they promenaded along for our quiet enjoyment. As it grew dark, we headed back to the Place St Nicolas and found a likely restaurant. There we shared a plate of charcuterie to start, followed by the classic 'saute de veau avec olives vert and pasta. The other dish was rouget in cheese sauce. All 'toute bon' but we were very tired from the long day of travel. Big day of cycling and an early start tomorrow.
