After a night of prolonged rain we woke to cloudy sky's and hesitant sun. Good to go for a 30 mile ride. Cycled up to Royere, had pain au chocolat and Caffè allonge at the bakery.
Set off on a longer circuit around lac la voud gelade. We pinched at the roman/ medieval Pont de Senoueix. A lovely little river bustling down a green, sunlit valley over big grey stones.
We had a cunning plan: to get back to Royere for 3.30, have a beer then visit the butcher who opens at 4pm.
To achieve that we extended to ride. We followed a marked velo route from St Martin to nouells? This was gorgeous rolling upland cattle meadow country. Offering copious gratuitous gradients of 8 to 12% on both the outward and return trips. Then we continued our circuit of the lake, arriving back in Royere in good time.
We sat outside the bar and enjoyed cold 1614 in the sun. Afterwards, bought lunch and breakfast for Friday at the bakers. The butcher was high quality. A tranche of limousin beef steak, two kebabs and 2 charcuterie salads came to 31€.
