Today we rode 26 miles from camp in a circuit that looked fairly easy and straightforward on paper.
Stopped in town for a baguette and breakfasted on pain au chocolat by the fountain. Reserved at the table du gauntier this evening.
A difficult start to the ride. Down the insanely steep and busy main road to the bridge, then immediately up again, then left onto a track which totally spooked me. Ended up walking to the top.
After that we cycled on, feeling our way along the route with stops at junctions to check the way. Navigation is difficult in this part of the land !

A Historic Lunch Stop !
After lunch at the picnic spot by the dolman we carried on to the river and followed it back to Saint Junien.
Lots of quite tough riding today, but lovely country.
The late afternoon was sunny but a chilling wind. We packed up before walking the 1km into town. Beer at the Corot bar then 1st in the restaurant at 7pm. It soon filled up and was buzzing with good food, drink and pleasantries.
We shared carapaccio of beef, then a beef kebab, sauté de veau. A bottle of st nicholas de berguil and coffee to round it all off.
Went to bed full of foodie happiness.
