Woke to a bright clear and refreshingly cool Monday morning. The sun was slow to climb over the hills to the east of Canari. Wonderful views from our balcony out to the clock tower. We had a very nice breakfast at the hotel.

We loaded up and set off around 10am  and rolled steeply down the D33 to join the coast road. A pause for coffee by the tower in Nonsa and then rolled on to St Florent. After the turn away from the Col De Teghime,  the road runs down a lovely valley with tall cliffs carved by an ancient river.

We arrived in the centre of Saint Florent near the pétanque Square. Our  hotel – the Hotel Europe was directly ahead just behind the pétanque pitch and bar. The room was ready in reception so we gladly checked in early. Our room had a delightful little balcony with views directly out over the harbour. Well worth an extra 10€! We showered, changed and went for lunch in the Cafe Europe. We shared a hummus and vegetable meze with a couple of beers. A truly light lunch !

After a little rest we walked around the harbour and the Old Town finishing up with large beers back at Bar de l'Europe . It’s as we remembered, a super friendly place where people congregate and relax away from the touristy shops and places along the front.

We walked around searching for cash failed as both machines were not working. After another rest at the hotel, we went out to eat and ended up in one of the generic places along the harbour. We both had moules frites – a  mariniere and a beer Corse. After dinner another wonder along the  harbour with a pause for refreshment and to watch the evening sunset. Soon it was late and all the places were closing. Another failed search, this time for screw cap wine to drink on the balcony so we blagged a couple of beer blanche from the waiters at l' Europe and sat watching the harbour from our balcony as the sun went down. Another excellent day!
